Applying to live on campus in UNSW owned and operated colleges or apartments is made via our online resident portal. We recommend you apply early, even before your high school or university results are finalised as places fill up fast.
With Semester 1 of the 2018 academic year on the way we are currently taking applications for Semester 2 2018. If you would like to live with us in Semester 2 we recommend you apply straight away. Please click here to access the online Resident Portal and start your application.

Please note, there is a non-refundable $100AUD application fee required to complete your application.
Occasionally, there can be problems with the system due to routine maintenance. Please try at a later time. If you’re still experiencing problems, email the UNSW Student Accommodation office and give as much information as possible about the problem.
Select your preferences
You can nominate up to 4 accommodation preferences in your order of preference. Every effort is made to give you your first preference, but placement depends on availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Please make sure you only select preferences you’re willing to accept.
Upload supporting documents
If you’re applying for Basser, Goldstein, Philip Baxter, Colombo House, Fig Tree Hall or UNSW Hall, you’ll also be required to upload additional documents, including:
- Academic transcripts;
- Character reference letter;
- Awards or achievements;
- Extra-curricular activities; and
- Any other documentation that will support your application.
A $100AUD application fee is required in order to submit your application for the colleges or apartments. You’ll be directed to the UNSW Finance payment gateway and given a reference number for the payment.
Please note: The application fee is not refundable.
If you applied for Basser, Goldstein, Philip Baxter, Colombo House, Fig Tree Hall or UNSW Hall, you will be required to attend an interview either over the phone or in person.
Offer of accommodation
The first round of offers are usually emailed in November of the year prior to commencement or June for the second semester.
Accept your offer
In order to accept your offer, you’ll be required to make a $1000AUD fee in advance payment. The fee in advance will be subtracted from your final payments at the end of your licence agreement.
What if I pay the $1000, but don't receive an offer to study at UNSW?
If you don’t receive an offer to study at UNSW, the fee in advance payment can be refunded on request.
What if I pay the $1000, receive an offer to study at UNSW, but decide to decline the offer?
If you receive an offer to study at UNSW and decline that offer, the fee in advance payment is not refundable.
Living on campus is so great because you can easily come back to your room to relax or study between classes.
