Open days

Who should come to Open Day?

Open Day is designed for prospective students to get all the information they need about further study. But it's so much more than that! Students of all ages are welcome, as are their parents and families. Open Day is also a celebration of university life, so community members and alumni are also encouraged to attend.

When and where is it held?

This year, Open Day falls on Saturday 2 September. The main festivities will be held at our Kensington Campus, with a smaller gathering also organised for the UNSW Art & Design campus in Paddington.

What time should I arrive?

The party kicks off at 9am and will be continuing all day until 4pm. Come for an hour or make a day of it! There's plenty to do with opportunities to not only experience university life, but to also just have a really fantastic day!

How do I get to campus?

An excellent question! Whether you're coming by car or taking public transport, UNSW is very easily accessible. Free parking is available on the day and express buses will be running from Eddy Ave at Central to the Kensington Campus all day. For more information, visit the Getting to UNSW.

Do I need to register?

Registration is not compulsory, but signing up will give you updates and reminders direct to your inbox. You can register here.

How do I know what's on?

The Open Day website has an excellent 'Plan My Day' tool, which lists 250+ great activities happening on campus. You can search by interest area and add the ones you like to your own individual plan. Easy! You can then print off your plan, share it via email or access it on your mobile on the day - we'll even have free Wi-Fi on campus for you!

I've arrived on campus. Where do I start?

Your first stop should be the Advisory Centre in the Scientia Building. It's a straight walk up the University Mall - you can't miss it! There you can pick up a goodie bag and get all your degree related questions answered before moving on to explore the rest of campus.

How do I navigate the campus?

UNSW really is like a mini city - it even has its own postcode! Knowing where to go is half the battle. You can print off a Campus Map, which easily points out the main areas for Open Day or you can use the free Wi-Fi on campus to download the UNSW Map App from the App Store. There'll also be big yellow and black signage on the day and floor stickers to help you find those main lecture theatres. If all else fails, you can ask a Student Ambassador (wearing the yellow shirts) and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Where do the campus tours depart from?

Campus Tours leave intermittently from the bottom of the Scientia Building [G19] while Accommodation Tours leave from the Commerce Courtyard [E19].

Will I get to see the Colleges & Apartments?

Yes! We’ll be running tours of the Colleges and the apartments (University Terraces). Please make sure you visit our Open Day stand for the details on when the tours take place and where to meet so you don’t miss out.

Tours

If you can't make it to Open Day, don't stress as we run great events throughout the year as well! Campus Tours are run every Friday afternoon and the first Saturday of the month (excluding public holidays). The Saturday tour runs from 10am to 11.15am and is followed by an optional information session and tour of the Residential Colleges from 11.30am. You’ll need to register here. Please come to the UNSW Student Accommodation Office at Gate 5 Lower Ground, Goldstein College Building, [B17] at 11.30am.

Tours of the apartments (University Terraces only) run on UNSW Open Days only.

Virtual tours

You don’t even have to leave the house! UNSW has a campus virtual tour. Click here to take a look around the campus and walk around some of the accommodation options. There’s a great interior shot of the 'Harry Potter' Goldstein Dining hall.

Hot of the press!! The University now also has a new 360º Tour giving you the opportunity to further explore the campus.
